A little about me..... |

As a teenager my father built a darkroom for me and from that moment on I was hooked! Later, raising a family took priority over my hobby but about ten years ago my wife gently nudged me to get back to my passion. She said I was getting cranky and needed to spend some time with nature! For the last 8 years I have had the pleasure of hanging around with some wonderful photographers both amateur and professional. I have enjoyed making new friends while participating in and teaching many fun filled workshops. My "real" job as an Independent Sales Representative for Companies who make components for the medical device industry allows me to travel around the country where I can take an extra day here and there to capture some magic moments. I have been influenced by many but want to make a special point of noting a few who have had a profound impact on my work Nancy Rotenberg - Nancy is a dear friend who radiates joy and passion for people and photography. I took my first workshop with Nancy and was immediately impressed with her patient, gentle style and absolutely stunning work! Nancy is not only a wonderful photographer and a gifted teacher, she is a rare gem in the world of photography education. She really helped me to understand and "capture the essence" of a scene. Thank you Nancy for pointing me in the right direction and for helping me to "see" the beauty of this journey I have embarked upon! Do check out her work and new book! Tony Sweet - It will become obvious that Tony has had a major influence on me as you look at his work. I am grateful for his wonderful vision, teaching style, loving guidance and friendship! Do yourself a favor and take a look at his wonderful work and be sure to check out his new book ! Thank you for your friendship Tony! Bill Strom A close personal friend and up and coming professional photographer who is a master of the macro world! His work is artistic and astounding. I have been in the field many times with Bill and you can be sure that when the group is taking the obvious "postcard" shot that he is pointing his camera at some strange object like a rusted trash can and making art out of it!! Bill has an uncanny ability to see patterns in almost anything and make them into an artistic masterpiece! Freeman Patterson - Colla Swart - I had the opportunity to spend a week with Freeman and Colla at their workshop in Kamieskroon South Africa. It was a life changing experience! I have long admired and have been influenced by Freeman for his incredible creativity and vision. Having read his numerous books I was thrilled to be with him in this special place. Colla is a special soul who is largely responsible for the preservation of the Namaqualand area. The experience with Colla and Freeman is not only educational but spirutual as well! Dan Sniffin - I met Dan by accident while teaching in New Hampshire. What a happy accident it has turned out to be! Dan is a master of composition and has a web site filled with images that are rich with color, texture, grace, passion and emotion. I cherish our new friendship and value Dan's influence on my work and look forward to teaching alongside him this year. |
