The colors of the unique bath huts at Muizenberg and St. James beach are mesmerizing and addictive as evidenced by the many images I've chosen to post.
On the last day before boarding a plane to fly home I was happy to have taken the time to go to Cape Point. This first image is taken while walking up to the lighthouse. The one below is from the lighthouse looking to where the currents of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. A breathtaking site to behold!
As I was shooting the colorful huts I turned to my right and quickly realized there were other things to shoot besides color! If you look closely you will see the huts on the far left. The image below is quite similar in that while on the beach shooting the huts I turned around and was greeted with this gentle early morning scene that looks toward Simon's Town not far from the point.
While traveling with along the coast to the point I was surprised to see ahead an area of misty fog. It was sunny after all and nearly noon. As I came to the city limits I was greeted by a sign that read, Misty Cliffs. I later learned that this misty condition happens frequently even on sunny days. The image below was taken not 5 minutes later about 1km down the road. You can see the mountain on the left is the same. The top was taken with the 90mm lens and the bottom a 45mm.
Cape Town is a magnificent city easily recognized by Table Mountain. We were fortunate enough to be there on a day when the unique "table cloth" effect was taking place. It is as though you are watching a waterfall of clouds rolling over the mountain. The top image is taken at twilight from an overlook on Signal Hill. The peak on the bottom image is known as the lions head.
